Wes Nelson (b. 1997) is an American musician and educator currently residing in the Chicago area. Nelson’s primary instrument is the upright and electric bass, although he regularly teaches and performs on the guitar and piano as well. Nelson currently holds BM degrees in Jazz Studies and Music Business from Elmhurst College. In addition, Nelson was a three year member of the award-winning Elmhurst College Jazz Band where he embarked on multiple international tours and performed with world renowned artists such as Mike Stern, Doc Severinsen, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Randy Brecker, Bill Evans, and more. Nelson continues to perform in the Chicagoland area in a variety of genres including jazz, rock, pop, R&B, and classical.   As an educator, Nelson has presented various masterclasses in schools locally and internationally on topics such as improvisation, effective rhythm section playing, large ensemble rehearsals, classical bass sectionals, and group guitar lessons. Along with this, Nelson has maintained an active private teaching studio containing students of all ages on bass, guitar, and piano. Wes Nelson demonstrates utmost musicianship, professionalism, and reliability while catering to the best interest of students, audience members, and fellow musicians.
