A Long Island native and the youngest child in a busy family, Roxy began performing at a young age to try to get as much attention as possible. That plan worked a little too well and thus began a decades long career in the performing arts! After a vibrant high school career performing in jazz choirs, all state choruses, an all women's barbershop group, as well as performing in the spring musicals, Roxy went on to earn her BFA in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory. A month before graduation Roxy landed the role of Madame de la Grande Bouche on the Broadway National Tour of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. One tour led to another and allowed Roxy to visit every contiguous state (she'll get to Hawaii and Alaska someday!) in the country. Those tours included Bandstand, An Officer and a Gentleman, Annie and Flashdance.
Roxy is excited to lend her talents to Lessons By Brooke in an administrative capacity, helping other young performers get as much attention... I mean, knowledge, as they can! For more information feel free to visit www.roxyyork.com
"Growing up my favorite vocalist to listen to was none other than Barbra Streisand. I couldn't believe the raw emotion of her natural instrument and that she never attempted to tamper down on what made her sound unique! In a world of autotune I have always been attracted to the raw, unfiltered voice. Barbra really embodies that fearless energy and you can hear it in nearly all her recordings but especially her rendition of Happy Days Are Here Again."
