Erin Rogers returns to Lessons By Brooke & Company as Studio Manager, having previously been an instructor from 2016–2019. Erin is very excited to be returning to an amazing company that has grown exponentially since she was last part of the team! A dedicated music educator, choral director, and experienced soprano, Erin holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Elmhurst University, and a Master of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her performance credits as a soprano chorus member include Ravinia Festival’s Porgy and Bess under the direction of Bobby McFerrin, Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses performed live at Symphony Center, and two Chicago premieres of Andrea Bocelli’s national tour. She has sung under renowned conductors like Anton Armstrong, Andre Thomas, and Z. Randall Stroope, and has performed a wide range of challenging soprano repertoire both as a soloist and ensemble member.
Most recently, Erin was the choir director at Dixon High School. Erin has always treated the choir classroom with the same individualized focus as a private voice lesson - if each student can individually grow as a vocalist and musician by working to master control of their voice, music literacy, vocal technique, and musical confidence, it makes the choir that much stronger. During her time as a choir director, she curated a wide range of unique experiences, including travel opportunities and high-profile performances. She also initiated multiple impactful school- and district-wide events, built strong community and financial support through innovative partnerships, and fostered student ownership, pride, and personal growth by helping them discover and fall in love with their own voice. Erin is excited to bring her experience and passion for music back to Lessons By Brooke & Company as studio manager!
"I have been so fortunate to learn from the BEST music teachers, who have profoundly shaped my musical and teaching journey: Jennifer Mather, Donna Peterson Tallman, Sue Moninger, Robert Green, Marla Caballero, Puja Ramaswamy, and many, many others. I believe the teacher who most changed the trajectory of my life was my elementary music teacher, Erin Howe. Noticing how much I loved singing, she pulled me aside one day and encouraged me to join the choir—and even asked me to audition for the select choir. I hadn’t realized I had potential until she helped me to believe it. If I hadn’t joined and discovered my love for choir and for singing at such a young age, I may never have found my purpose and the entirety of my life would look very different! Never underestimate the power of early music education—both in elementary school and through private lessons!"
