Dan VanZeeland is a pianist, arranger, and educator living in the Chicagoland area, currently completing his senior year as a Jazz Studies major at Elmhurst University. He has performed for several years as a member of the Elmhurst College Jazz Band, granting him the opportunity to perform alongside names such as Kurt Elling, Byron Stripling, Ryan Truessdell, Dennis Mackrel, and many more. He performs regularly around the Midwest, performing music in settings ranging from Vegas-style show bands to salsa bands, jazz trios and full string orchestras. He recently had the opportunity to teach a Milwaukee-based music class for youth in underfunded schools, which has since sparked his passion for musical education.
"My favorite piece to perform is Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. I first heard it at a performance by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra when I was very young. Ever since, I have been absolutely in love with the piece!"
