Andrew Fapp is a current resident of Carol Stream, Illinois but has been away for his senior year of college at Elmhurst University. He is currently studying Music Education and Vocal Performance with a minor in Psychology at Elmhurst, with hopes of becoming a high school teacher after graduation. He has performed at statewide conferences with the Elmhurst University Singers, and also been a part of the premier touring vocal jazz ensemble, Late Night Blues. Andrew has also had multiple years of private vocal study with Michael McHugh, Scott Uddenberg, Jennifer Mather, and currently, David Govertsen.
One of Andrew's largest passions for music is conducting, where he has participated in the Emerging Conductors Workshop for two summers, virtual conducting masterclasses, and has recently attended the Illinois State University and University of Michigan Ann-Arbor Choral Conducting Symposiums. Additionally, he is excited to be Napervoice's Spring Conducting Intern, and the inaugural student conducting intern with the Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale, which he is with right now. He hopes to continue his conducting and vocal studies post grad, with hopes one day of receiving his doctorate in choral conducting. Outside of ensembles, Andrew is the President of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the music fraternity, President of Elmhurst Aspiring Educators, and a member of numerous leadership organizations on campus.
Andrew is self-taught as a ukulele, piano, and guitar player - he has been practicing and learning vocal craft and percussion nearly a decade now. He has studied classical, musical theater, operatic, and jazz voice, and has a good understanding of all four approaches. Andrew is a big believer and fan of solfege and Kodaly methods, as well as eurythmics and using every part of the body to learn, understand, and create music. He is incredibly excited to get you know you and your students better, spread a love of music, and help teach the next generation of musicians and music lovers!
My favorite concert I attended... What a difficult question! I had VIP passes to Friday Pilots Club, I have seen Bruno Major, been to multiple rock festivals... but my favorite concert I have ever been to has to be seeing La La Land in Concert at the Chicago Philharmonic. The composer of the ORIGINAL score was there, and I was able to talk to him! He signed my vinyl as well, check out the pictures below!
