She has participated in several chamber ensembles and was assistant principle violist of UIUC Philharmonia and Symphony Orchestra. She has also worked with Illinois Summer Youth Music camp for the past three summers. During her time at UIUC, Alyssa served as the sound designer for Illinois Theatre’s “Inner Voices: Social Justice Ensemble” and as president of a Registered Student Organization called DREAM Studio. DREAM studio was an organization where she and other college students mentored high school students on how to Develop Real Expression Around Music. As a teacher Alyssa believes that everyone is unique and no matter how subjective art is, every piece of art is beautiful. Alyssa will create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable and motivated to reach to his or her full potential.
"My favorite piece to perform is the Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky. This play and music has always mesmerized me. Tchaikovsky paints every scene and dance so well with each musical phrase. Also, the viola part is so much fun to play! Tchaikovsky really made the violas the heart of the string section.”"
