Where Do I Teach?

Western Suburbs

Adam Montesantos is a guitarist and music educator currently performing and teaching in the Chicagoland area. Having played the guitar for over a decade, he has developed a love for performing and teaching students a wide array of music on the guitar, piano, and bass, and has been teaching in the Elmhurst area since 2019. He is a recent graduate from the Elmhurst University music program with a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies. At EU he studied and performed many different styles and genres of music, with a main focus on Jazz, under the tutelage of professors: Neal Alger, Dan Nicholson, Marshall Vente, Kirk Garrison, and Tom Garling. Since graduation he has been busy performing for weddings and corporate events, as well as in Jazz combos and Big Bands at venues like Fulton Street Collective, and Andy’s Jazz club. As a devoted player and student himself, Adam aims to impart his knowledge and experience to all his students to develop a deep personal understanding and feel for the music they feel driven to play.

“There have been so many great guitarists over the years I’m not sure I could pick just one who inspires me the most, but without a doubt my ‘Mount Rushmore’ of guitar players would absolutely be Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, and John Scofield. What each of those guys was able to accomplish in their own eras and styles continues to be a huge source of study and inspiration for me as a player and a student.”
